Dr Chris Beadle

Scientific Research, Writing and Workshop Facilitator
Chris's major long term research interests are the growth, physiology, and wood quality of trees in relation to environment and silviculture; crown responses to pruning and thinning in plantations managed for solid-wood products; and silvicultural approaches to disease management. He worked for CSIRO, Australia and was a senior principal research scientist at retirement in 2014. He continues to work part time on development projects in Indonesia and Vietnam and teaches at Scientific Paper-writing Workshops, in Africa in cooperation with Dr Peter Willadsen. He is the author of 130 scientific journal papers and has been an associate supervisor of 20 postgraduate students.

Dr. Peter Willadsen 
Consultant Scientist - Animal Health

Peter's major long term research interests are vaccine development and the control of ectoparasites, with an emphasis on ticks and tick-borne diseases. He has long been involved in the interface between basic research and commercial development. For many years he led the biotechnology group in CSIRO Livestock Industries before becoming the Division's chief scientist. He retired in 2008 but continues to work part time as a consultant, predominantly with international animal health companies. He is the author of over 150 scientific papers and book chapters. He teaches at Scientific Paper-writing Workshops in Africa in cooperation with Dr Chris Beadle.

Dr Rob Skilton

Head - Capacity Building and Institutional Development Programme

The programme provides support to postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows and African higher education and scientific research partners to build their capacity to conduct and lead research in insect and related sciences. Rob holds a PhD in molecular parasitology from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He has wide research experience in agricultural biosciences, including disease diagnostics and epidemiology,  vaccine development, and crop improvement, plus more than 10 years experience in capacity development of scientists and research institutions in Africa. Rob is the author of 70 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
